A journey that began 40 years ago and became part of a much larger story. On June 10, 1986, Jože Rus walked through the doors of ZMAJ for his first working day. What started as the beginning of a professional career would grow into a remarkable journey spanning four decades of dedication, innovation, and development in battery production.
Today, as Director of PE Batteries, Jože's story is closely intertwined with the evolution of battery manufacturing in Šentvid pri Stični and the long-standing tradition of ZMAJ.
While revisiting historical editions of Glas Zmaja, Jože rediscovered articles documenting some of his earliest projects and experiences within the company. These archive pages provide a fascinating glimpse into the beginnings of a career that would later help shape important developments in battery production.
The rediscovered materials not only capture moments from Jože's early years but also preserve valuable pieces of the company's history.
Among the archived articles is documentation of one of Jože's first major assignments—the relocation of the alkaline battery production line.
At the time, projects such as these represented important steps in modernizing production and preparing the company for future growth. The relocation and commissioning of production equipment required technical expertise, teamwork, and a forward-looking approach that would become defining characteristics of Jože's career.
Beyond relocation projects, Jože played an important role in the automation of battery manufacturing processes.
Over the past four decades, he has witnessed the transformation of the industry—from traditional production methods to increasingly advanced manufacturing technologies. Throughout this journey, innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing have remained key drivers of success.
Jože's anniversary coincides with another important milestone: 70 years of ZMAJ in Šentvid pri Stični.
For generations, the factory has been an important part of the local community, creating jobs, developing expertise, and contributing to industrial growth in the region. Historical records reveal that the site's industrial roots extend even further, making it a place where tradition, innovation, and community have been connected for decades.
Factories evolve. Technologies change. Production processes become more advanced.
Yet behind every innovation stand the people who make progress possible.
Jože's journey reflects the dedication, expertise, and commitment of generations of employees who have contributed to the development of ZMAJ and Iskra. His story serves as a reminder that lasting success is built not only through technology but also through the people who continuously strive to improve it.
As we celebrate 40 years of Jože's contribution and 70 years of ZMAJ in Šentvid pri Stični, we also celebrate the knowledge, perseverance, and passion that continue to drive our company forward.
Thank you, Jože, for 40 years of dedication, professionalism, and inspiration.
