From Classroom to Shipyard: Connecting Education and Industry at 3. MAJ Shipyard
17. 06. 2026
3. MAJ Shipyard welcomed students and professors from FH Oberösterreich – University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, School of Business and Management as part of their field study visit to Croatia.
The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the world of shipbuilding up close. During the tour, they were introduced to the unique environment of a working shipyard, gaining first-hand insight into shipbuilding operations, production processes, maritime tradition, and the complexity of industrial work.
As part of the programme, Mr. Klemen Šešok, CEO of Iskra Group, presented Iskra Group’s business philosophy, strategic direction, and vision for the future. His presentation opened an important discussion about modern industry, entrepreneurship, business development, and the role of young professionals in shaping the future of industrial sectors.
At Iskra Group, we believe that strong connections between education and industry are essential for inspiring future talent. Field visits such as this one give students the opportunity to better understand real business environments, while companies gain the chance to share knowledge, experience, and practical insight with the next generation of professionals.
The visit to 3. MAJ Shipyard was not only an introduction to shipbuilding, but also a meaningful exchange between academia and industry. It highlighted the importance of cooperation, knowledge sharing, and creating opportunities where students can see how theory becomes practice in real industrial settings.
We sincerely thank 3. MAJ Shipyard, FH Oberösterreich, Dr. Christopher Kanitz, and everyone involved in making this visit possible.
Together, we continue building bridges between education, industry, and future talent.
